5 months

Quinn at five months...

-at 4.5 months you weighed 11 lbs. 4 oz. and were 23 1/4 inches.
-you rolled over from back to tummy once.  but i didn't see it!! i laid you down to change you and went to grab your new swim suit to try on and within those five seconds that i was turned around you had rolled over :(
-you found your feet!  i think it's so cute when you chew on your toes!
-you are now a little jumping bean.  you have some strong little legs that like to go crazy... running, jumping and kicking!
-you've been sleeping through the night since about 3.5 months but the last week or so you've been waking up in the middle of the night around 3 or 4 am again.  last night you didn't so hopefully we're over that.
-you had your first camping trip to Don Pedro Lake!  you were just so excited to be outside/entertained by everyone all day!  you were a champ! although, you didn't like the water so much... too cold for you.
-you're on a pretty good routine. i try and keep it eat, play, sleep.  nursing every 2.5-3 hours. but you still don't take long naps so i sometimes wait a bit to feed you once you're up.
-awake span is still about two hours (that includes the time you're nursing)... a little less in the mornings and sometimes a little more in the evening.
-you never wake up at the same time each morning.  it's always between 5 and 6:30 am.  so your naps aren't always at the same times each day yet, but hopefully we'll get there soon!
-because you still don't stay awake long and nursing you is not that fun in public, we don't go many places.  if i have to run errands i'll do it fast in between your naps.
-great at grabbing things now! ...including my hair and food :) so fun!
-laughing more and at the most random things.  while we were camping you were laying on our air mattress while i was getting things ready for bed. i wasn't even looking at you, just walking around in the tent, and you started laughing like crazy! haha i was like where did this come from... but i went with it and started being silly to make you laugh more and you kept on going to for a long time.  but then there are times when we try and make you laugh and you just smile and grunt.
-still wearing size 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers.
-boy can you you scream. not like crying screaming but more like squealing.  i think you do it more when you're getting tired.  daddy and i just laugh when we hear you over the monitor while you're trying to go to sleep.
-still loves: a warm bath, a pacifier & being swaddled to sleep (won't go down without both), being outside, watching people, when i sing to you in my terrible voice at sleepy time, getting your bum cleaned/being naked, standing, and kisses.

4 months

Quinn at four months...
-hellooo sleep, goodbye night feeding!!! i can't get over the fact that you're sleeping through the night my girly!  and i didn't even have to do anything to help you do it... you did it all on your own and i'm so proud :)
-in bed between 7:30pm-8pm and awake between 5:30am-6:00am.
-nursing about every 2-3.5 hours depending on if you refuse to eat or decide you want to be fussy and only nurse for a couple minutes.
-started night time sleep training at about three and half months. you did sooo much better than i thought you would and now take no more than a half hour to fall asleep on your own in your crib!
-most naps are still about 40-60 minutes with occasional long ones every few days.  depending on the length of your naps you'll take about three to four a day.  but you now stay awake longer in the evenings.
-turns out you aren't good with me eating eggs either. you poor thing screamed your head off so much i thought you might have had an ear ache or something! but good thing we figured out what it was!
-you're still not the best eater because i think you're sensitive to other things i eat but i've already cut out the major things that make you scream from a belly ache that i don't know how much more i can eliminate.  my goal is to get you to one year with breastfeeding.. but we'll see how it goes because it can get pretty stressful!
-starting to grab at things... not very good at hanging on to what you grasp but it gets better everyday!  it's so fun watching you concentrate so hard when you want your little hand to get a toy to chew on.
-you've kind of stopped rolling over as much as you used to.  now when you're on your tummy instead of rolling over when you're done you just put your head down and cry.  hmm maybe you forgot how to roll over..?
-we got you an exersaucer and you love it! you're still pretty tiny in it but you love that you can be up and looking around at your toys :) you like such a big girl in it!  and your feet surprisingly touch the bottom too!
-you don't freak out as much when we tickle you now.  you used to not know what to do but you're starting to actually laugh about it instead of get scared/annoyed.
-getting so good at falling asleep in your carseat without much fuss.  which is awesome!  we can do grocery shopping with a lot less stress now... i just keep the cart moving and cover your eyes and then do my shopping!
